British and other mails, via San Francisco, will close at this office on the 23rd last.
Two steamers have been chartered to run with telegrams between Penang and Rangoon. One leaves Penang on the evening of the 15th, the oth.-r about four days later, and will remain in Rangoon thiny-six hours for replies, and eight hours in Penang. Passage under four days—full rates charged.

NOTICE. The steamer Otago is expected to leave the Bniff at 11 e.m. oa Thursday, the 17th iust. Telegrams for the Australian Colonies or Europe, via Java Cable, will be received at the this Office, for transmission to the Bluff, up till 10 a.m. on the 17th iust.
