Wellington, August 4." : In the Legislative Council yesterday, The Hon. Colonel Whitmore's motion for adjournment of the Council for fourteen days, lapsed in his absence. '
v The Hon. Mr Waterhouse called the atten- J '' tion of the Council to a question of privilege. The report of the Commissioners, of ta* ■Enblic Debt Sinking Fund had only been '.;r. laid on the table that week, whereas it was - specified that it should have been bo laid . within fourteen days of the meeting of ParKament. He moved that the Commissioners should be called to the Bar of the House to " explain. A debate ensued, which was, by the carting vote of the Speaker, adjourned till the next sitting day. , The Council adjourned till Tuesday.
