THE ODDFELLOWS' VOTES.
To the Editor. '-Sir.—There is audtem.in.your report, ijgt; the Mayoral viz.. "It was generally understood that Mr Woodlands had secured the votes of the Oddfellows "-which is apt ?to convey the impression to. the public that part of the functions of Oddfellbwahip is lor • such purposes. The society whioh I have the-honor-to represent does not as an association connect itself, .with Sectarianism, and political elections, or any other collateral subject; At the same time Members are allowed free action on all such matters when outside jsf the Lodge-room. The > Mayoral contest has not bee* enter- r tained in any of. our Lodges, nor could the subject have been tolerated for a single ■moment if it had.—-I am, &c. r 1' Joseph Braithwaitb, '; 0.M., 1.0.0JV Donedin, August 3.
