Grahamstown, July 27. Mr M'Masters has extracted 43oza pure silver from lcwt regulus, or molten ore, from the .Richmond Hills Silver Mining Company. It is stated that the yield is equal to 140ozs silver to the ton of ore.
Jnly 27. The 'Thames Advertiser' was sold by auction at noon to-day. The bidding commenced at Ll,ooo, and was rapidly run up to L 2,500. It was ultimately knocked down to Mr Wilkinson for L 2,600. Mr Wilkinsom was one of the original proprietors.
Chbistchttrch, July 27. A considerable advance has taken place in the wheat market. , ' ome heavy lines have changed hands for English shipment and speculation. Stocks are considered insufficieff'for New Zealand requirements. Millers' stocks are low.
At a meeting of the Christchurch shareholders in the Titanic Steel Compeny, it was reported tha'j a nan from Melbourne, who has discovered a flux for smelting the Taranaki sand, has gone North in the Arawata.
July 28. The football club contemplate sending a team to Auckland and Wellington wis season if sufficient funds can be obtained. The team will also visit Dunedin, Nelson, and Taranaki.
A man named Fuller, late taxidermist at the museum, was nearly poisoned yesterday by accidentally taking a solution containing arsenic used for preserving skins. The stomach pump was applied, and the patient is now progressing favorably, though he is not out of danger.

Indignation is expressed here at the action of the Deputy-Superintendent in abolishing the Southland Waste Lands Board, with the view of getting rid of Messrs Mitchell and Dundas, the only members who have lately attended to their duties. It is not unlikely that a public meeting will be held to memorialise the General Government on the subject.
Wellington, July 28. The fancy dress ball at Sir J. Vogel's last night was a great success. About 250 persons were present. Bates and Howard, lessees of the Theatre Royal, have ako leased the Oddfellows' Hall for the next six months, but not for the purpose of keeping it shut.
