IMMIGRATION.
To the Editor. Sir, —In your last evening’s issue, I notice that Mr Adam is called to question in respect to advertising for hatters to send out here. I fail to see what that gentleman has done amiss—’tis true he did advertise for men of our trade, but I think that he mnst have been led to believe there was plenty of work to be had here, or why pitch upon the hatting trade only. Inmy mind it appears that Mr Adam had been requested to send men, or why should he desire a stated numbernamly, eight. With all duo respect to the writer of last evening’s letter, 1 think he will find our Immigration Agent has only done his duty, inasmuch as he only tried to send out men whom he had been induced to believe would immediately find employment. —I am, &c., J. Dunkerley, Dunedin, July 27.
