The p.s. Samson arrived last night with cargo and passengers from Oamaru. The barque Southern Cross, with a cargo of Hobart Town produce, was towed up to her anchorage off Carey's Bay last evening by the tug Geelong, ■ i.e l .* a good passage of eleven days. She left H r, bn)t Town on tV.e 16th instant. Owing to the unfavorable sfate of the bar tbo departure of the mail steamer City of New York was postponed till to-morrow.
The schooner Mary Opilvic, with cargo for Gray, month, took her do; nr turn this forenoon.
iho signal at the Heads this morning announced rhe arrival of the Albion Company’s snip William Davie, after a passage of cighty-or.e dnys from London. The tug Geelong proceeded down and will tow her up to her anchorage this evening. The Union Company’s steamer Taranaki took hor departure this afternoon for Northern Porta. The s s. Alhambra, with cargo and passengers for Melbourne via the Bluff, sailed this afternooii. WRECK OP THE HOPE, Captain M'Callum, Assistant-Harbormaster, received u telegram this afternoon reporting the total wreck of the cutter Hope, at Moeraki.
