Tuesday, Jtrtv 25. (Before J. Bathgate, Esq., R.M.)

Cooper v. John Donoghue. —This was a judgment summons on a claim of L2 ss, money lent. Defendant did not appear, and plaintiff stated that he was in the employ of the Corporation. His Worship made an order for the payment of the amount in weekly instalments of 10s, or, in default, four days' imprisonment. Beck's Trustees v.. W. Briggs. Claim, LI 10s fon goods supplied. Mr Mouatt appeared for plaintiff. Since the service of the summons, defendant had paid LI, and judgwas given for 10s and costs. Same v. Andrew Moir. —Claim, L 5 13b. Mr Mouat appeared for plaintiff, for whom judgment was given, wi hj costs. Thos. Brooks v. Wm. Wheeler.—Claim, L 5 for a parrot alleged to have been left with defendant. A quantity c>f contradictory evidence was given, defendant stating that Mrs Brooks gave him the bird, while the latter denied that she had done so.— His Worship said that a woman had no power to dispose of her husband's property. Judgment was given for the amount claimed, to be reduced to Is if the bird was given up. Murray v. M'Kenzie.- Claim LIOO, for money lent and paid by tlu plaintiff at defendant's request. Mr Denmston for plaintiff; Mr A. Bathgate for defendant, who did not deny receiving the money, but stated that it was given to him and was not a loan. —Plaintiff's case was that wishing defendant to become a neighbor of his he advanced him the money sued for to enable him to build a house on the adjoining property.
