MAYORAL NOMINATIONS.
SOUTH DUNEDIN. Tee candidates proposed were:—Mr Nicholas Maloney (the present Mayor) and Mr Philip Brady. The poll will be taken on Friday next. ST. KILDA. Two well-known publicans in the municipality— Mr John Pugh Jones (the present Mayor) and »Ir p eter Pax*on—were nominated for Mayor to-day. Another candidate (Mr Robert Goodison), who was defeated at the last Mayoral election, was also in the field, but his nomination was deemed informal by Mr Dodds, the Returning Officer, through his seconder not having signed the nomination paper. The poll was fixed for Friday. PORT CHALMERS. The nomination took place at the Town Hall at n<«on to-day, when there were about twenty ratepayers present. Mr Laing, Eel tuning Officer, read the following nominations:— Mr Andrew M’Kinuon, proposed by Mr C. de L. Graham : sccoaded by Mr R. Richie. Mr William Murray, proposed by Mr Angus M'Gregok; seconded by Mr James Goiu on. After addresses by the proposers and the candidates. the Returning Officer proclaimed that a p®ll would take place on Friday next. [By Telegraph.] Cromwell. July 17. The nomination for Mayor took place'at noon today, when the present Mayor, Mr David A. Jolly, wns returned without opposition. This is Mr Jolly’s third year of office. . . Riverton, July 17. At the nomination for Mayor to-dm-, Dr Mcnckton and Mr J. R. Mills (the present 'Mayor) were proposed as candidates. . . Abbotsford. July 17. The nomination for Mayor of Green Islaud was held to-day, when the following gentlemen were proposedMr J. J, Eagerty, proposed hy Mr Thomas Stacklcs, seconded by Mr S. Lewis; Mr James Loudon, proposed by M • James Emery, seconded by air R. Currie. The election takes place on Friday next. Oamaru, June 17. At the nomination for Mayor to-day Mr W. Steward and Mr John Falconer were proposed. Mr ■Steward’s retur is regarded as certain. The ‘ Mail’ strongly urges his candidature.
. _ Balolutha, July 17. The nomination of Mayor took place at noon in Barr’s Hall. Mr Peter Mason was proposed by Air Clement Grant, seconded by Mr James Dunnet. Mr John Dunne was proposed by Mr Geoi ge Bain, seconded by Mr Wm. Stewart, painter. The poll is fixed for the 21st.
