WASTE LAND BOARD.

The usual weekly meeting of the Waste Landßoajdwas held yesterday; present Messrs Strode (in' the chair)V-Butterw6rtli, and Clark.

Mr Robert M'Kay's application to be allowed to purchase reserve of two acres between section 48 and road line, Waihemo district, was .refused. An application by Mr John Lange for license to occupy an island containingabout 200 acres on the east side of Lake Hawea, for grazingpurposes, was refused. Banger Hughan reported on the applies tion for license by James M'Kenzie to occupy section 29, block 6, Waikaka district, under .the 91st clause of the Waste Land Act, for the purpose of raising lignite. The application was refused.

Mr A. Sutherland applied to exchange his agricultural lease of section 26, block 3, North Harbor and Blueskin district, for a lease under the deferred payment system. Applicant recommended to comply with regulations. Board have no. power otherwise to grant the request. Banger Hughan reported on the application by J. C. Robertson for license to occupy two acres of section 1, block 3, North Molyneux. License to be granted for seven years, at T.2 per annum. The District Officer, Naseby, transmitted estimates of valuation for improvements made by Messrs Field and Glenn on allotments in Naseby Township,, for approval of the Board. 'Approved. RaDger Hughan reported on the application by F. S. Canning, on behalf cf Messrs Pollock and Fewell, for a seven years' license under the 91st clause of the Act, to raise lignite from the back parts of section •2 of ] and2, block 1, SouthTuakitoto district, now part of Kaitanga Township Reserve. It being within the boundaries of the township of Ivaitargata the request was refused. Messrs Council and Moodie requested the decision of the Board on the case of Margaret Dilkeson and Alexander Rogers, deferred payment selectors, lately married. The Board decided that it was urable to make the exception asked for. The District Officer, Lawrence, reported on the letter of John North, complaining of ingress to his residence being ctit off by purchase of J. M. M'Rae of section 61, block 4, Table Hill district. The Board learning that Mr North has no cause for complaint decided to take no action in the matter.

Mr F. S. Canning, on behalf of John Dutton, applied for a twenty-one years' lease of section 1, block 3. and section 8 and a half of section 7, block 2, North •Molyneux district, for grazing purposes. Refused. "

The District Officer, Lawrence, requested

the Board to appoint Bailiff John Thompson assistant clerk, and authorise him to sell by auction fche right of licenses to occupy land on deferred payments. The Board would prefer that the regular auctioneer to the Board—Mr R. B. Martin —would perform this duty. Arrangements will he made to that effect.
