Melbourne, June 28. The Chinese lottery-promoters have obtained a victory over the Crown in the application for their prohibition. Arrived : Otago, from the Bluff. June 29. Mr E. Wheatley, merchant, and an old colonist, is dead.
The publicans have projected a fire insuiance company to insure hotels and other business places. The ship Hesperides has arrived at Adelaide with nearly 500 immigrants.
Sydney, June 28. A new copper lode of great size and considerable richness has been found in the Cotbing mine, Bathurst district.
A telegram reports the M'lntyre River to be rising fast, and that there is every appearance of floods. Connelly, for the murder of his wife at Tamworth, was executed to-day. He died calmly, and without confessing.
June 29. Another shipload of immigrants arrived at Brisbane yesterday.
