EDUCATION BOARD.
An emergency mestipg of the Education Board was held to-day; present—the De-puty-Superintendent (in the chair), Messrs Davie, Green, and Gillies.
The Secretary laid before the meeting a draft of a series of proposed instructions to teacherj on various'matters relating to school management. It was resolved that the draft be printed, and copies circulated amongst members of the Board previous to final consideration.
Mr Pope's resignation of his appointment as English Master to the Girls' High Sohool was laid before the meeting. It was resolved that Mr Pope's resignation be accepted, and that the Board place on record its hearty appreciation of that gentleman's long, faithful, and valuable services in the High School, and its deep regret at now losing them. Ihe Rcotor of the Normal School reported that five candidates for admission as studsnts into the training department had pas-ed the half-yearly examination by having cained over 50 per cent, of the required marts. The following are the names :- Missts J. Watson, M. Algie, R. M'Georce. I M, Ejiren, and J. Black. *
Mr William H. Kneen, late of St. Peter's State Sohool, Melbourne, was appointed uudennaster to the Normal School.
