Judgment wi>nt for plaintiffs by default in the following cases :W. M'Laren v. H. Anstill, claim L 7, for a- suit of clothes; Watson and Gow v. George Leslie, L 9 17s for goods supplied. Howlett v. Hughes.—Claim £5, for five weeks' board and lodging. Mr A. Bathgate appeared for plaintiff; Mr F. R. Chapman for defendant.—Plaintiff Bail that Mrs H rights, who was then Mis 9 Matilda Green, lived a3 a boarder at his house during the latter half of laat year. She paid for her board and lodging up till August 2, but then got out of work and did not pay anything for live weeks. When she was married to defendant the latter promised to pay the amount. Cross-examined : Defendant did not exactly promise to pay Miss Green's debt. If witness had said so he would stick to what he said. —Defendant said he never agreed to pay his wife's debt; in fact, he had only known her three weeks before their marriage. He had offered to pay plaintiff L 3 7s 6d to settle it.—Mrs Hughes also gave evidence, after which his Worship gave judgment for plaintiff for L 3 7s 6d, with cost of Court. . I
