THE OPENING OF PARLIA MENT.

We have every reason to believe that the first session of the sixth Parliament was opened to-day at neon by Royal Commission ; and that the Hon. Mr Fitzberbert, member for the Hutt and ; Superintendent of Wellington, was, on the motion of the Premier, elected Speaker of the House of Representatives, and that M r G. M. O’Rorke was re-elected to his old position of Chairman of Committees. We kept our issue back till 5 o’clock, in the hope of receiving our usual message ; but up to that bour the telegraph was silent, so far as press message from Government Buildings was concerned. We hope a little more expedition will be shown tomorrow when the Viceregal speech is being wired through.
