Wbiunoton, June 14. The Government intend next session to introduce a measure amending Coroners’ administration. It is understood that the chief feature of the measure will be the appointment of the Resident Magistrate as the Coroner in every district of the country, to the supersession of other functionaries who may now chance to hold that office. When the Resident Magistrate cannot possibly attend an inquest the duty for the time being will devolve upon some one or other of the Justices in the locality. In order to improve the ‘personnel of the Coroner’s Jury, ifis proposed tb reduce the number probably to not more than seven and not less than four, due care being taken in the selection. In M'Credie’s family, where scarlet fever first broke out, another child is very ill and almost despaired of. All the others, also remain very ilk The doctors say that the disease is the most malignant type expertriiced. Mrs'M'Credie being about to be confined, the doctors said the result would be fatal to her if not removed at once. Some difficulty being experienced in obtaining suitable lodgings, the Mayor at once kindly offered the use of his own pi irate residence, and she was-removed this afternoon.

Blenheim, June 14. The body of a man has been found in a paddock within the outer confines of the town. If proved to be the body of Walter Long Wrey, un intelligent, well-eductated man, who had been over here from Nelson about two months. At first he conducted himself excellently, and being possessed of good powers of conversation’ his company was much favored by residents af the Royal Hotel, where he stayed. He had, however, been a great drinker at Nelson, and he reiymed to the habit in the latter part of his tune here before his death, carrying it to such an extent that no publican would give him a lodging, though meals were not reused him. Mr Penny; landlord of the Royal Hotel, willingly gave deceased all the food he required, and would have kept him altogether if he had abstained from drink. It is supposed that, in a fit of drunkenness, he lay down in .the paddock to sleep and was killed by the frost. At tlie inquest, the jury returned a verdict of “ Found dead; no evidence to pro ve means by which death was caused.” •
Christchurch, June 15. The Chamber of Commerce have appointed a committee to confer with the Lyttelton' Borough Council respecting the establishlishmenfc of a Harbor Board for Lyttelton. The General Government have promised to .support a Bill; for constituting such a Board. The Be Murska concerts, which have been A grand success throughout, concluded last night, and the company leave for the North to-day. A project for the establishment of a Swimming bath here has failed. The weather is unusually fine, more like midsummer.
