PnMtc Mottoes. |jIBOM the 4 Supplementary News,* printed' X* ;by Ferspismn and Mitchell during the Fete in aid of the. Benevolent Asylum, on the Premises of Messrs Guthrie and Larnach, May 24,187G.—0ur Local Indu°t;ie3.--Messrs Hallenstein Brivs, 6f the New Zealand ClothH*g Factory, following the ex amp’e of some of, the manufacturers at Home, and more especially with a view of preventing the imputation of > English - clothing, intend opening an extensive Ketail Establishment, for the sale of their manufacture*. For this purpose they have fitted up commodious pre mises at the corner of the Octagon and Princes street, which are to be opened on Saturday, May 27. This branch will be upder the immediate maj nagement of Mr i.aUrenaon, and tinder tho personal supervision of Mr B. Hallenstein, the head of the N.Z. Bnn. • Messrs Hallenstein Brosunder the management of Mr Ander- ! son, a partner in the wholesale and factory J b onch, /started 'the -New Zealand Clothing Factory about two and ft half years ago. They, commenced on a comparatively smaH scale; at present they employ between 200, .and 300 hands. _ They have had to overcome many difficulties and much but now their goods, as will be seen from the ships' manifests, are being sent to all part* of New Zealand. In Dunedin only they have found pfersistent opposition on the part of the larger houses who are glutting this market with imported goods, and, no doubt, the retailers find it to their advantage to push these in prefer*', ence to local manufactures. The proprietors of the New Zealand Clothing Factory have, therefore, very judiciously decided to introduce their manufactures direct to the large consuming population of Dunedin • and, in order to do so effectually, they have determined to sell a single garment at the wholesale price. : The selling price is to be marked in plain figures on every article, from which ho abatement will I be made. The. business is .to be conducted strictly on the cash principle, and all goods must be paid ‘for on delivery, but any article not found suitable may be exchanged, or the money returned. As will be .seen from the garments presented by the New Zealand. Clothing Factory in md of the Benevolent Asylum, and now exhibited in this building, they are superior in style and quality, and at a • proportionately lower price than: anything that can be imported, but, irrespective nf aS these advantages; it is to the interest: of every* ope to support an industry which employs local labor, and is a direct benefit to. the batcher, baker, fanner, mechanic, shopkeeper, merchant, and to all sections of the community. \ N D BE W L EE S, STOREKEEPER, MOSQIEL, Lowest Prices. .Terms Cash. . .
