CITY COUNCIL.
The City Council mei'at three o’clock thin after: noon to cousiderthe new Municipal Bill. Present —The Ifovor. (in the chair), Crs. OAnt. Isaac, Leaxy, Woodland, Roberts, Quick, Brown, and Campbell. ' The Mayor, in introdnoing the subject, advocated the franchise being extended to women. Mr Smith, Cdrpotation Solicitor, having come into-tha Chamber, His Worship called on the Town Clerk to read over the amendments made in the Bill and the portions struck out. Mr Smith would explain any of the doubtful clauses. - The BiU was then gone through, and Clsuao.27 being gead, recommending the striking out of the eliding scale of voting, and objecting to female voting, Cr. Grant expressed the opinion that females who are property-holders should have the right of voting, and moved to that effect. .
