Christchurch, June 9. Mr James Grey, of the ‘ Lyttelton Times,’ who gees to Wellington to join the Hansard staff, was entertained at a public dinner last night, and .was presented with a purse of sovereigns. The Provincial Government having placed L 3,000 on the estimates for establishing a High School for girls in connection with the Canterbury College, the Board of Governors of the latter have decided to undertake the management of it. In consequence of the past success here Hma de Mnrska commences a second series of concerts to-night. Joseph and Margaret Catchpole, husband and wife, have been committed for trial for wilfully setting fire to an hotel in their occupation at Burnham. At a meeting of the Agricultural Associa tion yesterday , a large number of very valuable private prizes for the November show were announced.
