Sir, —When the committee of the above were under the impression that they were to receive a benefit from the Carnival for one evening the Bishop, in a short note to yonr .taper, hoped that servants would not be backward inputting in an appearance at the rate in order to swell the amount to be expended in their behoof. In no sense is the entertainment to come off on Monday .evening so suitable for them as the other wouid have been, hor is it likely to be anything like as appreciable, nevertheless it is hoped that mistresses will afcke such arrangements as will allow of the absence of their servants for the couple of hours or so during which the entertainment will last I am,£&o*,' ‘ Dunedin, June 5- Gratia.
