_ Wellington, May 26. The February mails via San Francisco were delivered in London on March 29th. It is understood that the Government will apply during the ensuing session for power to appoint commissioners to value the Canterbury runs, with the view of offering them to present leaseholders (?) on such terms as the Commission may recommend.
Auckland, May 25. ihe Governor has written to Sir George Grey, empowering him to use the name of the Queen in instituting legal proceedings relative to the land purchases by Thomas Russell, at the Upper Thames, within the boundaries over which pre-emptive rights of the Crown have been exercised.
