VOLUNTEERING.
To the Editor. Sir,— As of late a more than ordinary desire seems to have arisen in the young men of this City to become the.“gallant defenders ” of “ home and beauty,” whereby the ranks of our companies have been increased considerably, 1 might suggest that (in order to increase and maintain that desire) we have now and again something to relieve us from the usual monotonous sheddrill. ' Let us awake from our slumbers and be like other people, then shall we have our field-days, church parades, &c., and in the end a more efficient force,—l am, &c., A Volunteer. Dunedin, May 18.
