The Duke of Galliera, who lately gave 22,000,000 francs to the city of Genoa for the enlargement of the port, has received over 3,700,000 letters of thanks from all parts of Italy. Henry .Robert Marcus, who devised the excursion train system in England, a few years ago, was killed recently, at the age of seventy-two, by being run over by one of those trains. A letter carrier at Halifax was arrested for purloining letters. On examination, 2,000 were found at his house, intact. He was too lazy to distribute them.
