MAORI HILL MUNICIPALITY.
The nomination for the first Mayor of the newly established municipality of Maori Hill took place at the schoolhouse at noon to-day. The proceedings were tame, very little interest being apparently taken in the matter, and only eight electors were present. Mr Campbell, returning officer, presided. The Clerk, Mr Pilkington, read the following nominations : Georg b Mitchell, proposed by William Amott Ross, stone-cutter, seconded by Walter Wilson, clerk. Robert Church, proposed by Thomas Fiddis, painter, seconded by William Brown, engineer. The election will take place on Monday.
