His Honor the Superintendent has again ventured upon replying to the Premier, and the letter appears this morning in the columns of onr contemporaries, introduced by a flourish of complimentary leaders that seem to have been some time matured. We have glanced over the letter, which bears the impress of having been written under the advice of, and to have received its finish* log touch from one more accustomed to logical quibbles than his Honor, Hot having had the advantage of prior information, we shall take time to discover its beauties and truths.
Oamaru was lighted with gn« on Monday evening. “The Shaughraun” was played for the last time at the Queen’s Theatre last night to a small but appreciative audience. Tonight “ Richelieu ” will be played, in which Mr and Mrs Byers will make their dehut. Mr C. A, De Lautour, telegraphed this morning to the Superintendent from f'aseby: “Glad to report last mile of channel has exposed very valuable and extensive goldfields. Hope management will be determined speedily.
