IMMIGRATION.

During the quarter ending December 31st, 1875, the Agent-General despatched fourteen ships to the Colony with immigrants. Three of these ships sailed from Hamburg, one from Belfast, two from Plymouth, two from Glasgow, and the balance from London. The total number of immigrants was 3,725, of whom 59U were single women, and 1,144 single men. The number of statute adults was 3,181£. The number of British emigrants was equal to 2,363 adults, aud of foreigners equal to adults. Of a total a number equal to 346 £ adults came out under nomination by friends in the Colony. Tbe various nationalities of the emigrants were as follows ;—English, 1,241 ; Scotch, 41!); Irish, 1,629; Welsh, 54; Hermans, 582; Danes, 173 ; Swedes, 33 ; Norwegians, 40 ; other countries, 154. Of the total number sent to this Province, 159 were hinglish, 12 Scoth, 34 Irish, 10 Welsh, 569 Germans, 173 Danes, 33 Swedes, 40 Norwegians, and 139 of other nationalities.

It has already been officially announced that all further foreign emigration has been stopped by the Agent-General, except the fulfilment of contracts already entered into. The extent of this exception does not seen* to be precisely known, but private advices received here by last mail state that two more emigrant ships were to leave Hamburg for Wellington last mouth. —• ‘ Evening Argus.’
