The ship Manlesden took her departure yesterday afternoon in ballast for San Francisco, being towed clear of the land by the Geelong, The Beautiful Star returned at 7.30 this morning from her special trip to Timarn, and steamed alongside the ship Rakaia to discharge 1400 bags of grain. She left Tinmru at 5.30 p.m. yesterday, and bad fine weather along the coast. The p.s. Samson took her departure lor her usual trip to Oamaru shortly after the arrival of the 7 tram from Dunedin this morning. The s.s. Matau came down from Dunedin early this morning. After coaling at the hulk Esk, she sailed for the coast.

The Union Company’s fine steamer Taupo was towed to Carey Bay yesterday, and swung at the dolphin for the adjustment of her compasses; after which she to the railway pier to take in cargo, and took her departure this afternoon for Northern ports. The p.s. Comerang steamed down from Dunedin. After coaling at the hulk, she took her departure, with cargo and passengers for Southern ports. We are requested to state that on her last trip to Newcastle the Easby carried more passengers than she ever hod before. She had eighty-one In all, and twenty-five extra births had to be put up.
