The Bank of New Zealand, Dunedin and Tokomairiro. Interim Secretary. Mr George Grant. Temporary Offices. Messrs Leary and Grant’s, Rattray street, Dunedin. The Provisional Directors of this Company have acquired the Freehold of the Milton Rettery Works, and have purchased the Plant, Machinery, and Goods in course of manufacture, on favorable tei ins. They have also secured the se vices of the ten skilled workmen who were selected in England and brought to New Zealand by the late proprietor’. The ■ bject of the Company is to work this valuable prouertv, which was carefully planned and adapted for the establishment of extensive Pottery Works, and thereby retain in the Colony artizans skilled in this important industry. It is believed that 'these meu will be found in all respects capable of turning out Ware, Pottery, Tiles, and Fait Glazed Pipes of a quality equal to the imported article; and it is satisfactory to state that the workmen have shown their confidence in the future of the Company’s operations by subscribing am- ngst themselves for 500 Shares, and have agreed to leave undrawn one-half of their weekly w 'ges until the same shall be fully paid up. There is no doubt a demand exists in the Colony for the various descriptions of Pottery Ware proposed to be manufactured by the company, and tint the profit attached to such a business promise? to be large. Beside? the ordinary manufacturing profit, the Company wi'l have in its favor, as against Imported Goods, such items as Freight, Charges, L uty, Packing, and Breakage, which of themselves are more than sufficient to enable the Company —so far as its means rf producton permit—to keep Imported Goods out of the Market. It is well to state that abundance of clay of the best description can be had in the immediate neighborhood of the works at a nominal price. Copies of agreements made for purchase of the Premises, Machinery, and Plant, and with the workmen, togeher with estimates of Income and Exp ncuture for the first six months, may be seen on application to Mr Grant, the Interim Secretary, from whom copies of the Company’s Prospectus may be obtained. Applications for Shares, Aiith deposit of 5s per Sh’re, must be forwarded to the Interim Secretary.
