A CURIOUS THREAT.

A case of husband and wife, which caused much amusement to all save the persons interested, was disposed of at the Sunderland County Petty Sessions. George Marshall, a pitman, was charged with having assaulted his young wife, to whom he had been married only nine weeks. Jealousy of a Mrs Fletcher seemed to have been the moving cause of the quarrel. “ He goes with her, ” said t 1 • complainant, “and she says she will never let me sleep happy with him as long as she is in the place. We had some words, and she said she would * wheel me like a barrow.’ ” The husband “ called her down in the papers,” and she took out a summons. “ I think it was time, then,” she remarked, amid much laughter. She agreed readily to a suggestion that she should go with her husband to live away from the fascinations of Mrs Fletcher, and the case terminated on Marshall agreeing to be bound over to keep the peace.
