Wellington, April 23. The police think they have arrested Martin Cunningham, who is wanted for the murder of Hugh Hannah at Lake Ohau, in Otago. A member of the force will be despatched to Wanganui to-morrow to bring down Cunningham.
Christchurch, April 24. A Lodge of the Ancient Order of Druids, the first of its kind in the Province, was inaugurated here on Saturday last. The * Press ’ this morning has a severe article against the Otago Government respecting the great land job. It concludes as follows : the course of investigation, something might come out to lighten the charge against the Government, but at present the case is black indeed. They stand charged with a charge which the evidence so far goes to fully establishn— ot only with having committed a flagrant job, but with having abused their official powers and opportunities to perpetrate a deliberate fraud upon the public.”
(From our own Correspondent) Auckland, April 24. The Governor proceeds on the 3rd of May on a tour round the north, accompanied by the Pearl and Sappho. The Pearlgoes on to Samoa, the Nymph to Wellington, and the Barracouta to Fiji.
