Wellington, April 21, Over eighty persons left by the Albion today, en route for the Palmer diggings. The plasterers employed on the new Government Buildings have decided to hold out until they get 12s per day.
Auckland, April 22. The Governor arrived from the Thames this morning and visited the Commodore on board the Pearl. The yards were manned and a salute fired.
Napier, April 21. The congregation of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church nave resolved to spend LSOO in the purchasing of an organ and repairing and decorating the building.
Grkytown, April 21. It is stated that King Tawbiao has accepted an invitation from Ngairo, principal chief of the Wairara, to visit this district. A pah is being prepared for hie reception at Te Ore Ore.
Grahamstown, April 22. Dr Pollen has declined an invitation to the banquet as he had to proceed to Auckland.
The youngest daughter (aged 16) of the Rev. V. Lush died this morning of virulent scarlet fever, after four days’ illness.
Hamilton, April 22. The * Waikato Times ’ this morning, on Mr Whitaker’s authority, denies the rumor that that gentleman has been offered a seat in the Cabinet without a portfolio, and trusts that Mr Whitaker’s position will be that of leader of the Auckland members.
