PORT CHALMERS TOWN COUNCIL.
The usual fortnightly meeting of the above Council was held on Tuesday evening, when there were present the Mayor, Ore. M'Kinlay. Reid. M'Gregor, Miller, and Middleditoh.
Correspondence was read—From the Corporation Solicitor, in reference to leases, and informing the Council that arrangements had been made with Mr Adams to give up all bis rights in the section leased by him. From the Registrar-General enclosing a form for the return of area, value of property, &c , and revenue and expenditure during 1875, and informing the Council tliat the th« return was not only wanted for the statistical purposes, bnt by tbe Treasury Department to be used in computing the amount road boards, Ac., will be entitled to under the Abolition Act.— The Clerk was instructed to furnish tve information as far as possible.—From Mr Joyce, asking tbe Council to puss bis quarter's salary due on the Ist inst.; also requesting tbe Conncil to fix a fee of Isis for Corporation leases, which would be handed to them us revenue.
The Inspector of Works recommended that the drain complained of by Mr Peterson be filled up, and that a small drain be cut into Lniug street, to lake the surface water off the foot path complained of by Messrs Law and others. The Inspector was authorised to proceed with the works. Tbe solicitor was requested to procure from Mr M'Kenzie a conveyance to the Conncil of a right to the water on tho section leased by him when required, and that the• lerk be instructed to write to the engineer asking him to furnish a report as to the progress of the Water Works. A certificate from tbe engineer showed work to have boon d'<ue at the Wo ter Works to tho amount of Lfbd, and it was ro olvcd that debentures for that wacmjst Should be irtfnod to Me Orawdww.
