There was a special meeting of the Brigade last night to consider the desirability of sending over a detachment to the Ballarat demonstration. The Town Clerks letter, enclosing the decision of the Council upon tho Brigade’s application for assistance, having been read, it was unanimously resolved, on the motion of Mr Bowers—- “ That the letter be received, and that an answer be sent to ( the Council thanking them for their consideration of the subject of the Ballarat demonstration. But, in the meantime, this Brigade consider themselves the proper parties to say Whether the Brigade is sufficiently efficient allow eight men to compete at the demonstration.” A committee was appointed to canvass the town for subscriptions ; and it was decided that, contingent upon the necessary funds being raised, the Brigade should be represented at Ballarat by Captain Atkinson or Lieutenant Falconer, Foreman Murphy, Secretary Robertson, and Firemen D. K. Rhodes, J. Gilland, J. Bowers,' W. Webster, and A. Grant.
