Wellington, April 19. The Government have taken steps towards investigating the charges made against the reclamation contractors by placing the matter in the hands of the police, as the signature to the letter proves it to be fictitious, no person of that name having been employed on the work or can be discovered. The hand writing is very marked. Should the writer be discovered, both Governments will see that the quality of the work performed is examined and every opportunity given him to make good his charges.
