BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH.
(From our own Correspondents ) . Napier, April 13. There is a great row on between the ‘ Herald ’ and the Lydia Howard troupe. The proprietors of the ‘Herald’ refused suddenly yesterday to insert an advertisement for Shepperson unless accompanied by ciish. Shepperson offered the money, hut asked for discount, as agreed at first between the ‘Herald’ proprietors and himself, hut they refused to let him have any discount. He then withdrew his advertisements, and in a letter to the. ‘ Telegraph ’ explains that the cause of the quarrel was in consequence of his refusal to make the ‘Herald ’ shop his box-office and give that office all the printing. He was promised i fhe would remove the box-office from the other stationers’ place he would get most favorable notices in the columns of the ‘Herald.’ The affair has caused much scandal.
