For Wellington—Mr Hislop and 7 in the steerage. The signals at the Heads this morning announced the arrival of the long-expected barque Denbighshire from London. The steamer Matau, with cargo from Oamaru, arrived shortly after midnight and steamed past the Port to Dunedin. The barque Cezarewiich, which arrived off the Heads on the 9th, was towed up yesterday afternoon and anchored off Deborah Bay. She left Newcastle on the 30th ult.; had strong westerly winds until the 3rd inst., when it shifted round to tho northward, which continued until arriving off tbo Solanders on the morning of the 6th ; arrived off the Bluff at noon on the 7th, and hovc-to for eighteen hours, but receiving no instructions, came along tho coast, and arrived off tho Heads as above. The two Clyde-built steamers for the Sau Fran-' cisco service—the Zcalnndia and the Australia—are as different in appearance from the American-built boats—tho Cily of Sau Francisco, City of New York, and' City of Sydney—as is possible to imagiac. While the latter hove great beam compared with their length (48ft to 360 ft) and are very nigh out of the water, the Scotch-built boats arc very long, low, and narrow, their length being S76ft by S7ftboain. Again, tho American boats are heavily barque-rigged, showing a large area of square canvas, while the rig of the Australia and Zealandia is most, peculiar, nominally that of a four-masted schooner, bnt with very light spars, each of the four masts carrying a jib-headed triangular-shaped try- : ail, running up to the masthead, and a staysail, thus making a continuous chain of small fore-and-aft sails, extending the entire length of the ship. The jib runs down to the stem, which is straight and without any bowsprit. Tho foremast and mainmast, which are placed forward of the funnel, are larger than the mizen ond jigger masts, and carry light square topsails and courses. Each, mast is all in one piece, like those of the Arawata. The engines and passenger accommodation already have been fully described. SHIPPING TELEGRAM.
