Christchurch, April 12. The Hon. John Hall has declined the vacant portfolio in the Ministry, which was recently offered him. [Very stale intelligence. — Ed. E.S.] Greymouth, April 12. The Greymouth Coal Company have struck grit overlying the coal in the third shaft at a depth of 225 feet. The damage done by the floods in the town is much heavier than was anticipated. A six-roomed house at Cobden and several bridges in the neighborhood were washed away. (From our own Correspondent) Auckland, April 12. The Zealandia,[from Sydney, brings 106 through passengers, and takes sixty more from here for San Francisco. She leaves this evening. Arrived, Hawea, from the South. The Sydney papers reproduced the report, which was forwarded from Wellington to the Associated Press, of the Colima’s loss off Akaroa.
