DISQUALIFICATION OF CLYDE.
To the Editor.
Sir,—l noticed in your report of the Tokotnairiro Faces of the second day, that Mr J. Lung had been disqualified for holding in his horse Clyde in the Selling Face. Now, air, being an ardent lover of truth, and an enthusiastic admirer of honest persons, I emphatically assert that by inflicting such a punishment as this upon mm, he is done an ignominious injustice, for such an enormous offence he would not be guilty of; or even countenance. I am actuated to make this defence through an inflinching belief that he is honest, and if yon, sir, consider for a moment upon the subject, I feel assured that you will be prone to agree with me, for the very fact of him managing horses from his boyhood (as can be proved), without even an insinuation till now that he is dishonest, evinces the truth of my defence. Not only is this a confirmation, but the reception of . testimonials of honesty, respectability, and good behavior from his late employer*, his Excellency Governor Brown, General Sir Ghtite, and the Hon. Mr Stafford, which can at any moment be produced. Mr Laiug is married and has a large familvto support, and therefore the Tokomairiro Jockey Club should become aware of 'their injustice and return to him what > ,hey have so wrongfully deprived him of, his reputation and livelihood.—l am, etc., JUSTUM CAE. Dunedin, April 6.
