THE RICCARTON ROBBERY.

The trial of Michael Galvin for the brutal outrage and robbery at Biccarton in December last occupied the attention of the Supreme Court at Christchurch during the greater portion of Tuesday; and the jury, after a moment’s deliberation, returned a verdict of “Guilty.” In passing sentence, Judge Johnston characterised this crime as being the worst, short of murder,- that he bad ever tried in this Colony, and condemned Oalvin to penal servitude for the lengthy tern of twenty years. Up to the present time the police have been unable to arrest Galvin’s accomplice, in tbe absence of any (evidence of identification; but it is believed that he will yet divulge the name and whereabouta ol his confederate.
