Auckland, April 3. The ketch Fanny Kelly, the property of Captain Hoyce, was completety wrecked at Wangaro. The Governor is going to visit the country districts on Monday. At the ball and supper last night he again stated his regret at the poor quality of land between here and Waikato. His journey from the latter district was in cold and stormy ‘weather. Wiltshire concludes his pedestrian feat of 230 miles to-night. His visit here has been far from successful, owing-to a variety of circumstances.

Auckland, April 3. • H.M.S. Pearl, whiclf arrived on Saturday, has gone .into quarantine. Commodore Hoskins, considering the Board of Health’s decision harsh in quarantining the whole ship’s company through one isolated,case of scarlet fever, has expressed his determination to proceed to sea as soon as the man recovers. To-day’s ‘Cross’ deprecates the conduct of the Board of Health in being strict in this case, whilst free communication is allowed between here and Coromandel, the Thames, and Christchurch, all being places where scarlet fever is known to exist. The action of the Board is more to be regretted as the Commodore’s visit was with the view to make Auckland a naval rendezvous.

Williamson, the fireman of the s.s. Ladybird, who was stabbed lately at Onehunga, has died. Maras, the seaman of the Ladybird, who killed him,- has been committed for trial for murder.

The Customs returns of this port for March were L 25,830, or L9OOO in excess of the February returns. Arrived: Taupo.
