VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.
The Artillery Company and hand were inspected by Lieut. Douglas Acting-Adjutant, at the Headquarters Drill Shed last evening. There, were present 36 rank and file, and 20 members of the band, all told. After the company had been put through some drill by Capt. Jack, they marched through the town, headed by the band, which played some lively quicksteps. The monthly Government inspection and Commanding Officer’s parade of the Artillery was held on Wednesday evening last, when there were present—Captain Jack, Lieutenant Muir, two sergeants, three corporals, and thirty-five gunners. After an hour’s marching, they hold their quarterly meeting, at which considerable business was transacted. Sergeant-Major Lambert was unanimously elected snb-lientenaut, Corporals J. F, Peake, and N. Kettle were elected sergeants, and Gunners G. L. Deuniston, H. S. Smith, J. C. Thomson, and T. Fordyoe corporals. It was decided that the company should give an invitation ball on the 24th May, and a committee of nine was elected to carry out the arrangements. We hope that the Artillery will again continue their old custom, and give a ball annually.
