Vallet Boas Boabd.—Mt Macassey, on behalf of a plaintiff who had obtained a judgment in the Resident Magistrate’s Court against the North-East Valley Rood Board, applied for a mandamus against the Board to compel them to satisfy the judgment. Counsel applied on the ground that this, was the only remedy. The mandamus was granted. Wkbb y. Tax National Bank or New Zealand. —Mr Smith applied for a rule nisi for arrest of judgment and for an alternative rale for A nW trial. The grounds on which counsel relied were— First, that the vesting order set ont in the danlavation conferred ne title to sne upon the plaintiff j second, that the verdict was against the weightof evidence, and the damages were excessive. fDhb rale, as asked, was granted. i Regina v. Allen.— Mr Macassey applied for a rule nisi calling upon Robert Allen to show cause • why he exercised the office of oonncilldr in the Waikouaiti Boad Board. It appears that at the election in June last for the subdivision of Merton there were two candidates—Mr Allen' and Mr Grainger. The former was elected, bnt it appeared that his name was not on the roll, and Mr Grainger therefore claimed to be elected. The rale was granted. -■
