Kevertheless those present were well repaid for their visit by the capital programme put forward, the various songs being well rendered; and taking the concert on the whole, it was the best given in the hall ■or some time. A laughable comic sketch hy Messrs Koss and Rogers brought the concert to a close. The room was then cleared for dancing, Mr Sykes officiating at the piano. •• Trovatore *’ was -repeated last night, and drew an excellent attendance to nil parts of the Theatre. As we expected, the opera was a vast improvement ou its first representation. Maduso Simonson being in good voice did full justice to the music of Leonora, and acted with, much power, especially in the final scenes. We have before written in terms of unqualified praise of Mr Morley‘s Maarioo; which is everyway an excellent performance. night he sang the aira in the second act Ah si ben mlo". with rare sweetness and feel, mg, and was enthusiastically encored. ‘The duet, “ Ai nostre monti,” between Mr Morley and Miss Lambert narrowly escaped on encore. The choruses went steadier, hat the Misere was, as before, too loud and taken too quickly. Mr Schott conducted. To-night “Maritana” will he played for the last time.
