VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.
The Dunedin Volunteer Artillery competed this morning for the handsome challenge onp at the Anderson’s Bay rifle range. Their usual luck in weather followed them, for it was bitterly cold, and blew a gale t the last range. The conditions were, 7 shots at ranges of 200, 4-00, and 500 yds, any position, Wimbledon targets. Lieutenant Muir takes the enp for the second time, and hotfs it during the ensuing six months. It must be won four times before it becomes the property of the winner. The following are the scores of those above 40 points : 200400 500 yds. yds. yds. Tl. Lieut. Muir ... 24 23 764 Captain Kettle 19 24 8 Peake 18 . 17 16-45 Gunner Smith 21 16 8 The Cup given by Lieut. Muir to he competed for by members not in the team will be shot for on Saturday afternoon next, at the Anderson’s Bay range, at half-past two o’clock.
