At this Society’s sixth annual meeting last night, the dirgetors’ brought up a report, which, after congratulating the shareholders on the continued success of the society, went on to say that “ 1647 new shares have been taken up during the past year, making in all, since the establishment, 7,953. Daring, the past six years L69,0j4 has been advanced on mortgage, and this amount has been reduced by payments to L 50.527. The anticipations held out of the realisation of shares have been fully confirmed, and the first shares issued will, in the course of a month.be paid up, a result (for the amount contributed) obtained by no other Society in Dunedin. With the Society now in full operation the success will be more signal in future years. The directors recommend a bonus of LSO to the secretary.’’ lu moving the adoption of the report, the chairman (Mr Cnllendar) intimated his intention of retiring from the presidency of the Society, which he had occupied for six years; and attributed the Society’s success to its careful management. Messrs Baird, Neil, and Wright were reelected directors, and Mr D. S. Currie auditor. Votes of thanks were awarded to the president and directors.
