FOOTBALL.
Saturday afternoon being highly favorable for football the Standard Club played a match between the following players, chosen by their captain.—J. R. Hume, Payne, T, Fuller, J. Brannigan, J.Sorley, J. Reid, G. Mondy, P. Hume, R. Martin, H. Millar, W. Millar, and G. Wilkinson; and the deputy-cap-tain’s side, comprising G. M’Croe, P. Weston, A Paul, J. Mallard, H. Limine, John Reid, W. Hawkins, A. Smith, B. Weidner, W. Chapman, L. Weidner, C. Martin, and A. Mohtdth. The game was very well contested, only two goals being obtained—one by the deputy-captain (W. Crawshaw), after an hour’s good struggle, and the other by Jas. Hume. The game was then made a draw. The following deserve to be mentioned for their really good play:—R. Payne, R. Martin, and J, Home.
