AMUSEMENTS.

BLOKHIN'S PERFORMANCE,

The second of Blondin’s pyrotechnic displays drew to Kensington last night an attendance nearly as large as ho,bad on his opening day. ’The-feats we noticed yesterday were repeated and evoked a great deal of applause. The fireworks were even more effective than on the previous evening.

THE CIRCUS. There was a very large attendance at the Circus last evening, when the performance was for benefit of Mr Harry Morgan, the bare-backed rider, who introduced some new and novel pieces of horsemanship and well merited the applause bestowed on him on retiring from the ring. The other performers in their way, and all were warmly apTHE OPERA.

“Maritana” was played for the sfecoud lime by the Simonson troupe at the Queen's Theatre last evening, and notwithstanding the inclement weather there was a good house. On the whole the pci - formance was satisfactory, hut, the opera showed a great want of rehearsal, and it dragged occasionally ia consequence. Madame Simonson must have been greatly harassed by the continual efforts vihe had to make to keep some of the characters up to their work. In the first act Mr Florence increased the favorable opinion produced on his first appearance by his spirited and appropriate acting of the part of the rollicking Don Caesar, and he was loudly recalled. Ho was not, however, in such good voice as on Wednesday night, “ Let mo like a Soldier fall ” not being given half as effectively. He afterwards atoned for this by his fine renderings! “ There is a Flower,” for which he received an encore. Miss Lambert appeared to great advantage as Lazarillo, and in her principal air—“ Alas! those Chimes" —andin the duet “Sainted Mother,’* sang with great taste. For the solo Miss Lambert was loudly encored. ToMdme. Simonson's lot, as Maritana, no great number of airs fall, but both her singing and acting were irreproachable. In “ Scenes that are Brightest ” an encore was demanded; but not acceded to. Of the)male singers, Mr Barrington, who filled the part of, the King of Spain satisf«,,,h,.iiji, aomnecl in the - boot dering of Hear me, gentle Maritana," <vas one of the most pleasing points of the performances. Mr Hodgson is overweighted in this music incidental to the part of Don Jose, hut “ In happy moments” was not badly rendered last night. He r Schott again conducted, and the orchesti a a- - d chorus gave every satisfaction throughout. This evening “Lucia di Lainmermoor," the best played opera this company has yet produced, will be repeated.
