* Wellington, March 15. Thdfirst annual mating of the Chamber of Commerce/ after a* lapse of ni e years, was held to-day. In moving the adoption of th ■ repo.t, the Chairman'(Mr Levin) remarked that it was their -policy to make Wellington what it was certain to become tooner or lat r—the great receiving- and dis riba ing port of the Colony-r-and to that end it was necessary they should inot look s> much to revenue from their wharf and harbor as to the increased trade which would accrue. By making Wellington a free, or marly free, port, this iesu t would be obtained, and he hoped the Chamber of Commerce would keep that stea'ily in view. The motion was carried tint the Government should he moved to an amendment of the present Bankruptcy Law. Mr Levin was re-elected chainrian. ‘
