The full returns are now to hand. The firing was divided into two sets, and competitors may elect in which set they will fire before the competition takes place-; but no person who has won a General Government prize since the 31st December, 1873, can compete in the second set. In the first set —ranges, 200, 600, and 600 yards ; seven shots—there were sixty-four competitors, the highest score, being 71, and the lowest 32 ; - in the' second set ranges, 200, 400, and 600 yards; seven shots—there were ninety-four competitors, the highest score being 77 and the lowest 4. Last year fifty-six fired in the first set, the • highest score being 72 and the lowest 27 J and seventy-seven in the second set, the being 68 and the lowest 19.
