DISTRICT PRIZE-FIRING.
The Dunedin Volunteers commenced the competition for the first set of General «Goprizes on A3 oaday, and concluded this morning. The country corps have yet to fiiv. In this stt, twenty-four prizes,' of the value of L 74, are offered, the highest prize ■jfmg LlO, and the lowest LI. The ranges are 200, 500, and 600 yards ; seven shots at each. Ca tain Stav-ly superintends the firing. Compe itors for tin se pr zes are only permitted to compete in one set, and before any firing takes place they must elect which set they intend to compete for. Ihe second set will be fired next week.
