The Chief Commissioner asked instructions as to issuing forms of return required to be filled up. in terms of clause 10 of the deferred payment lice, ses. The Lawrence District Land Officer recommended Clyde Distziot Lead Officer be
asked to report on Mr J. Grant’s letter, objecting to the illegal occupation of laud in Etttiok township. Referred to Clyde District Land Officer for report. Mr J. Harding asked the Board’s sanction to the assignment to himself of Messrs Clayton and Mouatt’s share held by them jointly at Resolution Island. Granted. The Government forwarded Sheep Inspeo- • tor Power’s bst of improvements made by deferred payment area holders. The return was considered satisfactory. The Secretary to the Mataura Mill Paper Co asked for tho issue of the lease for the Mataura Falis site, as the preliminary conditions have been complied with. Lease to be issued for 21 jeers, to contain {provisions original y~ upon by the Board and the Government. The Switzers District Latd Officer sent Mr T. Northcote’s application to purchase two acres of section 4, block 8, Waika»a. Refused; the Board would entertain an application for the whole section. Ranger Bolton reported on the improvements pot on lands by deferred payments and agricnl- ‘ tural lessees, aud forwarded a list of defaulters. Noted; District Land Officers to f'-rword on the Ist of every month the d*te of issue of every license under the deferred payment system; Mr M Thereon, of Alberto wn, wrote staling that >vt considerable expense he had built a punt foi* carrying travellers across the river • there, aud asked for protection from opposition for a quarter of a mile on each side of him. No power. The Chief Commissioner asked the Board to fix the upset price for suburban sections in the following townships:—Waitaki Bridge, Kelso, Havelock, Kapiti, and Mataura Bridge. Also to decide whether tenders shou'd be invited from auctioneers to sell lands wi bin districts lately held by Messrs Starimski, Chappie, M‘Aral 11, and others. Up&t price to be L 5 per acre for sections over one acre. The other matter was postponed. Mr P. Rasnuesen applied to purchase section 62, block 10, Tuapeka East, at 20s per acre. .Approved. \ Mr F. Tubman applied to purchase section 42, block 1 Benger, held under agricultural leas?. Approved. Mr J, E. Po: e applied to exchange his agricultural lease of section 27, block 19, Tuapeldf East, for another under the deferred payment system. Approved. Mr A. Fine wrote that he was willing to lease section 211 a, block 4, Fapakaio, without option of purchase, when the lease is np, and asked the Board to fix the term. Declined. Banger Valpy suggested the importance of having the boundary fine of bush reserve, block 3, VV aikouaiti, defined, as it would otherwise be impossible to prevent the illegal cutting of timber upon the margin of the reserve. Government to be recommended to cause this to be done. The Switzers District Land Officer stated that on November 17,1875, notices were ■««(; to the undermentioned persons informing them that licenses were ready for issue, but none Of them had been appled for:— Messrs W. G. Strona-.h, 903; Albert Newman, 904; Beniamin Willoughby, 905; George Baily, 906. These p reons to be deemed to have relinquished the r claiiDß. The land'in each case to be declared open for application. Mr J. B. Henderson re-applied to purchase the triangular piece of land adjoining section 9, block 9j Baxlutha.
