The following telegrams pissed between Sir George Gcey and tbe Premier, re’ative to the opening o£ the cable Government Buildings, , r . Wellington, 19th February, 1876. Your H«jnor will he interested to leam that the telegraph cable is completed, and the company's engineer fia now making teats before taking ft over for public business. It was with great pleasure that I heard, in 1866, that the originators of the policy of the introduction of the electric telespapli into New Zealand had succeeded in connecting trio two Islands by submarine cable. It is equal pleasure I now hear that their fore* tighten policy has been pursued to so important a termination, and that the existing Government have had the gratification of completing so mnch greater a work, suited to the present advanced wealth and requirements of the country, and which must produce such an important benefit for New Zealand^ (Signed) G.
